Remembering my miseries, just results of my offenses, I am humbled; and these are the evidences for my hope. Lamentations 1:1-6; 3:19-26

Gloating victors in ethnic cleanse, forcing some victims to sing songs from their native ethnicity. Ugh! Psalm 137:1-9

Paul to Timothy, in an intimate "us" moment, remembers that both of them are called, ordained, and suffering. 2 Timothy 1:1-14

Compare Luke 12:37, master serves servants, with Luke 17:5-10, master doesn't serve servants, the latter set in teaching on faith.

Common theme in Oct 3 Lectionary readings: interminable suffering, survived by faith and by consent to the irrevocable call of God.
