When results don't turn out like your dream, keep working because something good is coming. Haggai 1:15-2:9
Psalm 145 is a praise Psalm, calling for Thanksgiving every day, one generation to another, thus making way for answers to prayer. Psalm 145:1-5, 17-21
Before deliverance, recovery, or wisdom, must come a revealing of the evil, addiction, or reality. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17

"Something good out of something bad." I could make a case for this as a common theme in this week's lectionary readings. Old Testament: Jesus Himself later adorned the disappointingly drab temple. Psalm: Plain gratitude makes way for miracles. New Testament: Revealing of present evil makes way for deliverance. Gospel: In the midst of hecklers' trick questions there lies the opportunity for teaching much more valuable truth. |
