Hebrews: An Outline
Written by Wilma Zalabak, M.Div.

I love outlines, however, the Bible Epistle to the Hebrews has often eluded my efforts to corral it with an outline.

I think I like outlines because, once I create one that works for me, then I can re-read and remember the content better. I can also more easily spot similarities or contrasts between this piece and a different project I may have outlined another day (like the Book of Revelation, for instance).

Now, with the help of Robert Shank in his book, Life in the Son, I think I have an outline that gives me the Aha! feeling for the Epistle to the Hebrews.

Try this and see if it helps you in reading the Bible book of Hebrews.

A. Consider This
1. (Doctrinal, 1:1-14) Jesus is superior
2. (Practical, 2:1-4) Therefore, pay attention

B. Consider Christ
1. His person
a. (Doctrinal, 2:5-3:6) Captain and Brother
b. (Practical, 3:6-4:16) Therefore, enter in

2. His ministry
a. (Doctrinal, 5:1-10) High Priest forever
b. (Practical, 5:11-6:20) Therefore go on to maturity

3. His sacrifice
a. (Doctrinal, 7:1-10:18) His sacrifice is superior
b. (Practical, 10:19-12:29) Therefore, hold fast the profession of our faith

C. Consider Others
1. (Doctrinal, 13:1-6) Let brotherly love continue
2. (Practical, 13:7-17) Therefore, offer the sacrifice of praise
