How Sin Affects Humans

 

1. Soiled record – Dirty

Unclean, Mark 7:20-23

Guilty, James 2:10

 

2. Slave to the evil one – Hostage

Slave, John 8:34

All of us, Romans 3:23

 

3. Sentenced to die – Dead Man Walking

Wages, Romans 6:23

Since the beginning, Genesis 2:17; 3:4

 

4. Separated from God – Alien

Sin hides God’s face, Isaiah 59:1-2

 

How God and Jesus Deal with the Effects of Sin

 

1. Blood cleanses – Bleeding

Earthly sacrifices insufficient, Hebrews 10:1-4

Jesus’ blood cleanses, 1 John 1:7

 

2. Ransom frees – Buying

Jesus’ life a ransom, Mark 10:45

Free indeed, John 8:36

 

3. Court acquits – Bailing

God is just and justifies the believer, Romans 3:26
