1. "The Lord is my shepherd" --Yes, I am like a sheep, incapable of managing my own life, but...
2. "I shall not want" --because I believe the Lord is capable.
3. "He makes me lie down in green pastures" --since I decided to turn my life over to His care.
4. "He leads me beside the still waters" --where I see honestly reflected everything about me, but that honesty refreshes me.
5. "He restores my soul" --as I admit my wrongs to another and find that I am not alone and even still loved by the One who knows all about me.
6. "He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake" --giving me a willingness for correction.
7. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for You are with me" --humility and the work of correction sometimes feel like valley, shadow, and death, but You are with me!
8. "Your rod and Your staff comfort me" --Your correction reminds me of those I have harmed, and your comofort makes me willing.
9. "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies" --while I make amends wherever possible.
10. "You annoint my head with oil; my cup runs over" --as I continue in this way, You give me an overflow of blessings.
11. "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life" --as my awareness of Him increases through prayer and Bible study.
12. "And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." --living by these principles of His house, and going in and out to tell my story. |
